Celebrate Christ in a Big Way

December 9, 2025 - It's no secret that the Christmas season can be hectic, overloaded with activities, and overwhelming. Why is that? I believe the chaos comes when we direct our focus on what matters less instead of focusing on what, or rather Who, matters most.

So this year, why not make Christ the central focus of every holiday celebration? Does that mean that Santa and jingle bells have no place? That's for you to decide. But if Christ is left out of Christmas, or His presence and influence is greater diminished, I believe our celebrations will also be diminished.

Here are a few things to consider this month to celebrate Christ in a big way this year.

  1. Take a hard look at your holiday social calendar. Which events are most closely aligned with a love for the Savior?
  2. What activities can you add that will help you remember the true Reason for the Season, even Jesus Christ?
  3. With all the busyness that comes with the month of December, what can you do to slow down on a regular basis?
  4. Consider taking time everyday to sit quietly with your thoughts. I love turning on the Christmas lights, and turning off all other lights, to listen to my heart and to what the Spirit is speaking to me.
  5. If the holidays can be hard because you don't have others to celebrate with, how can you reach out to others in Christ-like service to extend His love to those around you?

January will be here before you know it. So celebrate Christ in a big way this month. You won't regret it..

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 5 Cow Cuddling February 3, 2026 - We all wish we could travel to where our ancestors lived, to experience the culture, breath the air, and walk in their footsteps. But what if you could walk in the footsteps of a cow whose ancestors may have walked in the footsteps of your ancestors? "What in the world is she talking about?!" This is exactly the experience I had last fall. When I realized that I would not be able to go to either of the Scottish festivals...

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 4 What's for Dinner? January 27, 2026 - As a young mother, this was the one question that would drive me insane. Was this my life's lot - to figure out what to make for dinner for the next several decades? But as a lover of all things family history related, being able to eat food from the countries of my ancestors brings a whole new meaning to this question. When I visited Scotland for the first time, I was determined to try haggis and blood pudding,...

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 8 With Uplifted Hands February 24, 2026 - Religious beliefs are deeply personal. We can agree with someone on the existence of God, but how we perceive, follow, or define this Supreme Being can vary greatly from person to person. Yet even in these differences, we can find connection. And isn't that what the world needs right now? In a similar way, being able to walk down the church aisles your ancestors walked can be an empowering experience, even if...
