Behind the Scenes (BTS)

March 24, 2026 - Since I pushed some of you last week, I'll try to make up for it with this newsletter. For all of those of you who are not, and doubt you will ever be, comfortable with being on stage in front of people, this is the newsletter for you.

Not that I'm letting you off the hook! Far from it. But for every person on the stage, there are many more behind the scenes making things happen.

If you're wondering how you can create goodness without stepping out in front of the curtain, consider what we can learn from some of the following theatrical BTS roles:

  1. Concessions: Do you love to cook or bake? Who is starved not just for your food, but more importantly your attention and concern?
  2. Music director: Is music your love language? How can this passion bring peace and comfort to others?
  3. Stage crew: If you know the difference between an Allen wrench and a rachet screwdriver, is there anyone in your neighborhood or church community that needs your skills?
  4. Costume designer: Does your heart race at the thought of going to the fabric store? Who has a clothing need that you can help fulfill?
  5. Director: Are flow charts and spreadsheets second nature for you? What group could benefit from your organizational know-how?

You don't have to stand in the spotlight. Find your niche and make a difference from behind the scenes.
