Your Weekly Dose of Inspiration: Create Goodness - Vol. 2, No. 10

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 10

Welcome to Create Goodness

March 10, 2026 - My how time flies! Here we are in March, moving forward through the first quarter of the year.

How have things been for you so far? Do you feel like you have accomplished what you wanted to do, made progress on some projects, or connected with important people in your life?

Don't worry if things have gone the way you planned. Life happens. Just keep taking one step after the other and all will be well.

For the next couple of months, we will delve into the idea of creating goodness. If that feels overwhelming, stay with me through this newsletter and video. Creating goodness definitely can include big events or interactions, but more often than not, it is in the simple actions we take each day.

Consider the following steps you can do right now or in the near future.

  1. Smile at the cashier next time you go to the store. Their work is often thankless.
  2. The next time you see a neighbor, friend, or family member, call them by name. Everyone loves to hear their name said out loud.
  3. Then as you visit, make reference to something they recently shared with you. Let them know you care about what is going on in their life.
  4. If someone's name pops into your mind, take five seconds to send them a quick text. It doesn't have to be anything big - just reach out to let them know you're thinking about them,
  5. And finally, give yourself grace if you didn't do all these things right away. We're all a work in progress.

Over the next several weeks, we'll explore other options for creating goodness. While there is so much that is out of control, there is still much we can do to bring light, hope, and hope to those around us. I hope you'll join me on this journey.

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 9 Help Your Posterity Walk in Your Footsteps March 3, 2026 - This whole series has been about walking in the footsteps of your ancestors. But have you ever thought that when you show your children or grandchildren, or nieces and nephews, where you lived or worshipped, what you ate, or introduced them to unique aspects of your story, you are helping them to walk in YOUR footsteps? This was a startling revelation to me recently, that you and I have a...

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 7 Connect with Cousins February 17, 2026 - I met a woman recently who, through some modern-era polygamists in her extended family, had over 500 first cousins! That made my mere 30 pale in comparison. But then I remembered that when I opted-in to be a part of Relatives at RootsTech last year, I had over 50,000 cousins! To be fair, these weren't first cousins, but it allowed me to connect with distant cousins who could help me on my trip to Scotland a year...

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 6 Tell Me a Story February 10, 2026 - There's nothing better than a story to settle down a child at night. But what about adults? Can stories do the same for us?We can't talk about family history without also talking about stories. There is power in storytelling, especiall in true narratives: Stories connect us with other people, allowing us to feel more deeply their experiences; stories tie principles to real-life situations; and stories are remembered...
