Enjoy a G.O.A.T.

June 16, 2026 - Famed boxer Muhammad Ali called himself the "Greatest of All Time," but is was his wife who coined the acronym "G.O.A.T." Beyond Ali, the term originally pointed to other well-known athletes, then moved on to refer to musicians and other public figures. Now, it's far game to just about anyone who wants to use.

Want to look and feel your best? Check out "G.O.A.T Haircuts" in Utah and Arizona. Want some cozy clothes this upcoming winter? "G.O.A.T. USA" has you covered.

Since the term has expanded far beyond famous individuals, I figure I can do some expanding of my own. How about animals? Can a cow be a G.O.A.T.? Can a chicken be a G.O.A.T.? Can a goat be a G.O.A.T.? Why not!

When was the last time you hung out with a G.O.A.T. goat or other critters near you? Here's a few ideas to get you started:

  1. If you have pets, put your phone and other distractions aside and have some good cuddle time with them.
  2. When was the last time you visited your local zoo? You don't need kids in tow to check out the "lions and tigers and bears, oh my"!
  3. While your interaction with zoo animals will be from a distance, is there a petting zoo nearby where you can get up close and personal with God's creatures?
  4. Is there a cat café near you? For an hourly fee, you can hold, pet, and snuggle a cat and purchase hot or cold drinks. At Tinker's Cat Café in Salt Lake City, you can also enjoy local pastries.
  5. If you really want to bring the cuteness of the animal into your home, and currently don't have a pet, would you consider adoption or fostering?

Whether you have a G.O.A.T cat or dog in your home, find one at a local shelter or café, or visit a zoo, animals are one of God's perfect ways to feel His love.

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 23 Smell the Roses June 9, 2026 - Have you noticed that roses don't seem to smell as strong as they used to? If so, you're not alone. In order to create flowers with longer vase-life and are resistant to pests, something had to be sacrificed. It was a trade-off: you get to enjoy them longer, but they're not going to smell as good. What do you think about this? Do you agree with these decisions? What would you rather have: roses that last longer with more...

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 22 Walk Around the Block June 2, 2026 - Over the past several weeks, we've talked about getting out there to explore new places, to have new experiences, and see things you've never seen before. Today we're going to mix things up a bit. How about getting out there by walking around your own neighborhood? You might think, "How boring is that?" But if you put on your shoes, head out the door, and try to see things with a fresh view, you'll be amazed by what...

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 21 "Curiouser and Curiouser" May 26, 2026 - It took me a quarter of a century to be curious enough to visit the Gilgal Gardens in Salt Lake City. Now I'm spreading the word. Thomas Child knew his garden would not be for everyone. And he was okay with that. “You don’t have to agree with me,” he once explained. “You may think I am a nut, but I hope I have aroused your thinking and curiosity.” As far as I'm concerned, he has accomplished his goal. What keeps...
