Looking for Miracles

July 28, 2026 - One of the great stories of the migration of the Latter-day Saint pioneers occurred in the summer of 1848. After planting their crops and planning for an abundant harvest, crickets invaded the fields, devouring the tender plants that would never grow to fruition.

And so they prayed. And God sent a miracle in the form of seagulls who ate the crickets and saved the day.

Do you need a miracle in your life? I think we all do. President Russell M. Nelson taught that we should seek and expect miracles in our life. But how exactly can we do that? Let's consider some ideas that will help bring these blessings into your life.

  1. First and foremost is to remember that you are a child of God. He loves you and desires your happiness.
  2. While the pioneer story is a dramatic one, miracles come in all shapes and sizes. What miracles have already seen today - no matter how insignificant it might seem?
  3. Seeking miracles means putting our trust in God and His ability to answer our prayers. Have you prayed for the miracle you need?
  4. Trusting in God also means trusting that He knows what is best for us. How can you develop greater faith in Him?
  5. With greater faith, we can expect miracles - even if they look different than we thought or come later than we planned.

So seek and expect miracles in your life and you will receive them.

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 37 Falling in Love with Learning September 15, 2026 - Nothing says fall more than back to school. I know I'm going to date myself here, but sharpened No. 2 pencils, the smell of textbooks, Pee-Chee folders, and the latest fashion brings on an excitement I can't explain. Which is odd, because I graduated from high school nearly 50 years ago! Later as an adult, I taught junior high French and felt that same enthusiasm. I realize now that the whatever I was...

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 36 Falling in Love with Fall September 8, 2026 - Welcome to my new series, "Falling in Love with Fall." There is something about this season which stirs my soul. For me, autumn is that comfortable place between hot summers and chilly winters. I love the idea of grabbing a sweater and hot drink, and settling in for an early Christmas video. The idea of nesting, creating a space of coziness is more than just a good idea, it's a great one! But what about...

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 35 Reflecting God's Light September 1, 2026 - Seeing myself in a mirror is not always a pleasant experience. I see my wrinkles, my rolls, my grey hair and wonder where my divine nature as a daughter of God went. Then I remember that more than my physical appearance, is the importance of my spiritual appearance - one that with His help, I can reflect to bless the lives of others. It's not always easy, but here are a few thoughts of how we can reflect God's...
