Pulling Together

July 21, 2026 - Life is challenging. No doubt about it.

Early handcart pioneers learned that two people walking side by side could carry the load much easier than just one.

But what if you don't have someone special in your life right now - someone that can help you carry your life load? Let's look at some ways you can yoke yourself to others to make life easier for everyone.

  1. Do you belong to a church or civic organization? How can you join forces with someone else to accomplish a goal?
  2. While most of us want to be independent, consider what might be holding you back from working with others.
  3. Think back on a group project from your school days. Was it a success or a complete failure? If the latter, what could have made it better?
  4. When have you been helped by linking arms with someone else?
  5. We were not meant to travel this journey called life alone. What changes can you make in your life to be more willing and available to navigate your life with others.

I wish you all the best as you pull together. It might not always be easy, but it will always be worth it.

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 37 Falling in Love with Learning September 15, 2026 - Nothing says fall more than back to school. I know I'm going to date myself here, but sharpened No. 2 pencils, the smell of textbooks, Pee-Chee folders, and the latest fashion brings on an excitement I can't explain. Which is odd, because I graduated from high school nearly 50 years ago! Later as an adult, I taught junior high French and felt that same enthusiasm. I realize now that the whatever I was...

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 36 Falling in Love with Fall September 8, 2026 - Welcome to my new series, "Falling in Love with Fall." There is something about this season which stirs my soul. For me, autumn is that comfortable place between hot summers and chilly winters. I love the idea of grabbing a sweater and hot drink, and settling in for an early Christmas video. The idea of nesting, creating a space of coziness is more than just a good idea, it's a great one! But what about...

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 35 Reflecting God's Light September 1, 2026 - Seeing myself in a mirror is not always a pleasant experience. I see my wrinkles, my rolls, my grey hair and wonder where my divine nature as a daughter of God went. Then I remember that more than my physical appearance, is the importance of my spiritual appearance - one that with His help, I can reflect to bless the lives of others. It's not always easy, but here are a few thoughts of how we can reflect God's...
