Falling in Love with Storms

October 6, 2026 - The title of this newsletter might be enough to scare anyone off. How about you?

I have always loved storms - the stronger the wind, the louder the thunder, the better. I love the power of storms and the energy they bring.

That being said, I might not have this same opinion if I had lived through a hurricane or tornado and experienced the devastating aftermath which often follows these events.

But when it comes to emotional storms, my opinion is not always the same. Experiencing the storms of life can be painful. And yet that is often when the greatest growth of life comes.

How can we prepare for and survive, even thrive, the storms of life? Here are a few thoughts.

  1. Remember that storms come and go. Even the ones that seem to go one forever will one day be gone.
  2. Look for the figurative rainbows that often accompany storms. These can help soften the blow of the hardships of life.
  3. Find ways to help others who may be going through similar difficulties. God wants us to use our experiences to bless the lives of others.
  4. Think ahead to what storms might come your way. What can you do now to be prepared when those events come?
  5. Give praise to God even in when the lightning strikes. He will never leave us alone.

We may not always be happy about the trials that come to us. But we can always look to God for help and assistance to make the most of those times when they do come.

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 46 Grateful Greetings Part 2 November 17, 2026 - As I sit down to write this newsletter, I am not feeling at all grateful. I have allowed myself to get overwhelmed by first world problems (all connected to technology) and can't see past my computer screen. That's when my husband reminded me that I do have so much to be grateful for - the gospel of Jesus Christ, the life that God has given me, and even the "bozo" (him!) that I am fortunate to be married...

Iron Rod Press Newsletter Vol. 2, No. 45 Grateful Greetings Part 1 November 10, 2026 - Sometimes we may wonder why be grateful when we have so many challenges around us.
