Grateful Greetings Part 2

November 17, 2026 - As I sit down to write this newsletter, I am not feeling at all grateful. I have allowed myself to get overwhelmed by first world problems (all connected to technology) and can't see past my computer screen.

That's when my husband reminded me that I do have so much to be grateful for - the gospel of Jesus Christ, the life that God has given me, and even the "bozo" (him!) that I am fortunate to be married to.

First, let me be clear. My husband Ken is by no means a "bozo." He is, in fact, the best thing that has ever happened to me.

And because he is such a blessing, his counsel has helped reset my thinking: I really do have so much to be grateful for.

Sometimes it takes a bit of a shake-up to help us remember what we are grateful for. But we shouldn't wait for a shake-up (large or small) to serve as a reminder.

So what can we do to live in gratitude all year long, and not just at Thanksgiving? Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Make prayer a part of your daily routine. Never let a day go by without checking in with your Father in Heaven.
  2. As part of your daily prayer, ask to see the miracles around you - because they are surely there.
  3. View life's challenges and trials as opportunities for growth.
  4. We all have someone who does not agree with everything we do or believe. But does that mean we shut them out of our life? No - as long as the relationship is not toxic or abusive. Seek common ground and hold on to the goodness that is there.
  5. Remember that a bad day, or month, or year, does not define your life. Sometimes, as hard as it may be, we just need to roll with the punches.

As for my technology issues (which truly are minor in the grand scheme of things), they are still there. But I've feeling better after writing this. These past few minutes have been a reset for me, for which I am so grateful.
